You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done (Psalm 92:4 NIV).
I fell in love with the street kids at Pan de Vida, a ministry in Quito, Ecuador, and I wanted to capture their smiles with my camera. But as I attempted to take pictures, I noticed a battery was missing. After an unsuccessful search through the camera case, my purse, the building, and the bus, I pled, “Lord, I need a battery! I can’t be in Ecuador for another week without a working camera. Please, God, would you provide one for me?”
As our missions team returned to the hotel, my thoughts led me to the big room where we gathered each night. Maybe the battery fell out during our last meeting. I examined the area. No battery.
I checked the hotel gift shop. They had an assortment of batteries for sale, but not what my camera required. “We can order one for you,” the clerk said. “It’ll take about a week.”
A walk to a little tienda down the street from the hotel brought more disappointing news.
“Please, Lord!” I prayed. “You’re a big God, and I know you’re able to give me a battery.”
I went to my room and dropped to the edge of my bed, discouraged. What do I do? Just then, a glimmer at the corner of the dresser caught my attention. I got up to check it out and discovered a new package of batteries—the exact kind I needed!
A few minutes later my roommate came into the room. I pointed toward the dresser and asked, “Where did those batteries come from?”
“I don’t know,” she said. “I packed batteries in my suitcase before I left for this trip, but I have no idea how they got there.”
“I do.” I smiled, raised my hands toward heaven, and praised the Lord.
God, thank you for reminding me that nothing is too small for your attention. If it’s important to me, it’s important to you.
