More than 600 teenagers gathered inside the cavernous atrium of the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, Kentucky to perform the national anthem. It was a glorious and emotional performance.

It’s become an annual tradition for the Kentucky All State Choir – dating back some 35 years.
“There’s just certain things that happen in life that leave a memory on you,” choir director Brett Burton, who was a student at the time, told CBS News. “It was just something amazing.”
What’s even more amazing is that the performance is always unrehearsed and impromptu. A few teens gather along the balcony and begin singing — then others join in. It’s really breathtaking.
