Since 2018 children at Leipsic Elementary School have been invited to attend a program called, “Christian History Class.” It was basically a voluntary Bible study.
The classes were held on school property during school hours without incident — until now.
A parent reportedly complained that her child felt left out after she refused to allow him to attend and now the Ohio school district is facing the wrath of atheists.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a Wisconsin-based gang of atheists and agnostics, fired off a nasty letter threatening to sue the school district unless they ended the class.
“It does not matter that Leipsic Elementary School allows parents to opt their children out of the religious class,” attorney Sammi Lawrence wrote to Superintendent Greg Williamson. “Voluntariness does not excuse the constitutional violation.”
The FFRF said the child who was forbidden from attending was allegedly bullied and assaulted. However, there is no police report or any other report that verifies that information.
The FFRF has a notorious history of targeting school districts in small towns that don’t have the resources to fight back. Typically their “aggrieved victims” are anonymous.
And that’s exactly what happened in Leipsic, Ohio.
The school district backed down and said they would no longer offer the Christian History Class on campus during school hours.
“A public elementary school is no place for bible study or any other religious evangelism,” says FFRF co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor. “Schools exist to educate, not indoctrinate. We’re glad the district is now ensuring a captive audience of small children will no longer be proselytized.”
Gaylor, and her gang of godless thugs, were reportedly triggered because the Christian children “participated in the shoebox ministry outreach” and sent 100 boxes overseas to impoverished boys and girls.
Oh, the horror.
