A Utah high school teacher is under investigation after he called for the deaths of Republican lawmakers in Congress.
“I only hope that the next time a president incites a riot at the Capitol, more Republican senators are killed,” teacher Brian Townsend allegedly wrote on Twitter. “
Television station KSL reports that Townsend is a humanities teacher at Parowan High School.
“Fire the bum now! He shouldn’t be allowed to be around students.
one outraged resident wrote on Facebook.
The teacher’s alleged tweet was posted on a Facebook message board for parents by the mother of a student in Townsend’s class.
“My daughter brought it to my attention,” Carter told the Cedar City News. “I’m shaking. Not only did he post something inappropriate, but his students can see.”

The Iron County School Board said they are investigating the matter.
“We’ve only recently become aware of these tweets. In light of the impact on the educational process and on Iron County School District, we are reviewing with legal counsel our appropriate response and we are investigating the matter,” the district said in a statement.
“His statements do not represent a statement or the opinions of the Iron County School District. In fact, the school district ensures that where it may be a matter of free speech we are very serious about protecting free speech,” they wrote.
“However, all matters that affect the educational system adversely are not protected and above all we want to make sure that the educational process and the education for our students is protected.”
Meanwhile, local residents are infuriated that someone with such radical viewpoints would be allowed inside a public school classroom.
“It’s not a left/right issue. Teachers shouldn’t express hope that politicians die.But since it’s come up, it’s absolutely no problem for liberals to educate kids. It’s also not a coincidence that more educated people lean more left than right,” one citizen wrote on Facebook.
“Not surprised, this nation is turning in to communistic hell pit and our schools indoctrination centers for the radical,” another wrote.
