‘I QUIT’: Christian Teacher Praised After Resigning at School Board Meeting Over Leftist Politics

A Virginia talk radio personality is giving an “atta girl” to a school teacher following her very public, emotional resignation.

“My hope and my prayer would be more teachers join,” WRVA’s Jeff Katz says about fifth-grade teacher Laura Morris and her comments this week at the school board meeting.

Best-selling conservative author Todd Starnes warned Americans that Communists had infiltrated our nation’s public schools in his book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing America.” Click here to get a copy.

Morris was not happy with what she called the highly politicized agendas of Loudon County Public Schools (LCPS) in Virginia. She went on to state the following:

This summer, I have struggled with the idea of returning to school, knowing that I’ll be working yet again with a school division that despite its shiny tech and flashy salary promotes political ideologies that do not square with who I am as a believer in Christ.

After reading about your lack of consideration for the growing population of concerned citizens in this division — clearly evidenced by the emails sent by the superintendent last year reminding me that a dissenting opinion is not allowed, even to be spoken in my personal life, (and) going so far as to send a form to my colleagues and I encouraging us to fill it out if we hear one another speaking against the controversial policies promoted by this school board and adopted in this county — I thought it necessary to resign in front of you.

School board, I quit. I quit your policies. I quit your trainings and I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents.

Morris was sobbing near the end of her resignation.

“Her comments and her perspective I think are shared by a lot of teachers privately,” says Katz. “I hear from a lot of teachers who begin every email or every Facebook message by saying ‘please don’t use my name’ but they are voicing the same concerns.”

Katz thinks the actions of Morris may very well inspire a number of other teachers to resign.

“Maybe those teachers end up at private schools or religious schools.”

Katz – who is “a strong supporter of public schools and a product of public schools” – says that there are still some public schools in Virginia that are fighting controversial curriculum and political ideologies.

“It’s getting harder and harder to do that, but there absolutely are school divisions throughout Virginia where you still have boards of education who of course in most cases are elected by the people of the counties,” says Katz. “They are representing the points of view of their constituents and saying ‘no’ to critical race theory and ‘no to this indoctrination.’”

National radio host Todd Starnes urged his listeners Wednesday to put their kids in private schools or homeschool them.
