Hello Americans, I’m Todd Starnes. Stand by for news and commentary next.

A North Carolina medical student said she intentionally injured a patient because he disrespected her preferred pronouns. The student has since deleted her Twitter account.

Should the medical student be charged with a crime?

Wake Forest Medical School confirmed that a fourth year medical student posted the disturbing message on her personal Twitter page.

Other news outlets have identified the student, but I have decided not to do so until formal criminal charges are filed.

The student said she was drawing blood when the patient noticed she was wearing a pronoun pin.

Pronoun pins are the latest craze among the LGBT crowd — a lapel pin acknowledging one’s preferred pronouns.

The patient laughed and that set off the medical student.

“I had a patient I was doing a blood draw on see my pronoun pin and loudly laugh to the staff ‘She/Her? Well of course it is! What other pronouns even are there? It?’ I missed his vein so he had to get stuck twice,” the medical student wrote on Twitter.

The student went on to accuse the patient of being transphobic and called out several other “cis-gender” patients who also made comments she deemed offensive.

Wake Forest says they are taking measures to address the medical student’s behavior.

“This student’s tweet does not reflect how Wake Forest University School of Medicine treats patients and provides patient care,” the medical school wrote in a Twitter post. “We are taking measures to address this with the student.”

Nothing short of immediate expulsion is good enough. And if, in fact, the incident actually happened, she should be facing criminal charges.

That pronoun-confused gal should not be anywhere around the business end of a needle.
