Several years ago I warned Americans that we were on a path to full-blown Marxism in our nation. I based that assertion on a survey of young millennials. Nearly half said there should be some limitations on free speech.
Unfortunately, my prediction is on the verge of becoming reality.
A majority of Americans now believe the First Amendment goes too far and many say the rights afforded to us under the U.S. Constitution should be curtailed.
Sixty-one percent of Democrats and 52 percent of Republicans reject the right to assemble, have a free press and petition the government. That’s according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.
“Evidently, one out of every two Americans wishes they had fewer civil liberties,” said FIRE Chief Research Advisor Sean Stevens. “Many of them reject the right to assemble, to have a free press, and to petition the government. This is a dictator’s fantasy.”
Americans literally want to censor free speech. This should be a wakeup call to every freedom-loving American still left in the country. “Americans have little tolerance for certain forms of protected speech and a lot of tolerance for unprotected conduct, when it should be the other way around,” Stevens said. “This poll reveals that the state of free speech in America is dire.”
Young people are being indoctrinated in taxpayer-funded schools. They are being spoon-fed a heaping helping of Marxist propaganda. It’s time for parents to assert their role as the chief educators of their kids. The future of our country depends on it.
