DEVELOPING STORY: Multiple people were shot and several were killed Wednesday at a high school in Barrow County, Georgia. Police say the gunman, who opened fire at Apalachee High School, is in custody. CNN reports a nearby hospital in Winder is receiving multiple patients.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office reports: βAt the time of this release, one suspect is in custody. Casualties have been reported, however details on the number or their conditions is not available at this time,β the release said.”
Gov. Brian Kemp issued a statement on X calling on “all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state.β
