‘No Hair Dudes in Our Daughters Locker Room!’
The segment focused on growing concerns from parents, female athletes, and advocates who say young girls are being forced to compete against biological males who identify as girls, both on athletic fields and in spaces such as locker rooms. Newsmax’s Kenzie Beach joined Todd to report on the controversy in California, where a biological male athlete has been competing in girls’ track events and where critics are calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to take action. Todd:
A biological male competing at a California girls’ track meet dominated in a number of events over the weekend. Outraged parents and officials protesting ahead of the meet are now demanding California Governor Gavin Newsom take action.
Well, Newsmax correspondent Kenzie Beach joins us with the very latest. Kenzie.
Kenzie:
Yeah, well, Todd, unfortunately, this is nothing new in the state of California. The Department of Justice is suing California over its transgender athlete rules, and there’s a slew of Title IX lawsuits against education institutions in California for allowing this to continue.
A.B. Hernandez is a biological male from Riverside County, California, who previously competed in women’s volleyball and now holds the top seat in the state for the triple jump, the long jump, and the high jump.
Sonia Shaw, Republican candidate for California State Superintendent, also called out California Governor Gavin Newsom at the Save Girls’ Sports Rally that was held prior to this past weekend’s track meet.
Shaw said:
“Gavin Newsom is a spineless bully to our daughters. He whispers it’s unfair, then rams boys into girls’ sports, showers, scholarships, while smearing us moms and others that are fighting this as bigots and other names.”
Over the weekend, in an X post, Shaw said the tragedy continues in California, where girls are robbed of placements, opportunities, and privacy.
“Gavin, you pissed off the wrong mama bears. We will never let this nation believe you’d make a good president.”
Now, there are 27 states across the U.S. that you see highlighted here that have protections in place, whether that be men competing in women’s sports or even shared locker rooms.
Back in January, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld these state laws that bar biological males from playing on girls’ or women’s school athletic teams.
Todd:
Kenzie, real quickly before we let you go, it really is amazing. I think a lot of folks may be surprised — wow, this is happening in California. But this is happening, and it seems like parents and female athletes are really rising up all over the country.
Kenzie:
Yeah, I mean, you had five of these athletes prior to this kind of playoff track meet in California. Before these athletes should be focusing, really, on this track meet, they’re standing up for themselves and saying this is just not right.
I mean, you have 16- and 17-year-old girls that are going to come in second place almost every time. One of them, in this past weekend’s event, the division there between first and second place was three feet of distance on that triple jump.
And these girls — it’s just not fair to them.
Todd:
All right, Kenzie, great reporting. And by the way, great show on the weekends. What a great job y’all are doing. Welcome to the Newsmax family. Thank you so much.
Kenzie:
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Thank you.
