School Apologizes for Banning Teen’s American Flag

An Indiana high school principal is apologizing after he threatened to punish a student who refused to remove an American flag from a pickup truck.

Cameron Blasek told his story exclusively to Todd Starnes on Newsmax, which you can watch below.

“So that flag, it represents this beautiful country of ours,” he told Starnes. “I respect that flag greatly. I was always raised to respect the flag. It also represents the people who fought and lost their lives for. And I respect those people – a tremendous amount.”

The teenager was told it was against school rules to fly the American flag from the back of his pickup truck – something Cameron had been doing all year without any trouble.

“I kind of told him from the get go, I said, I said, no, it’s not coming down,” he told Starnes.

The following day Cameron showed up to class with the flag still flying — along with more than two dozen of his classmates.

“After careful consideration and in recognition of the importance of the U.S. flag as a symbol of unity and national identity, I am pleased to inform you that we are allowing the display of the U.S. flag by students in the East Central High School parking lot,” the principal wrote in a letter. “I would like to extend my sincere apologies for any confusion that may have arisen due to the initial lack of clarity on this matter.”
