Jesus is not welcome in a New York high school because educators say our Lord is not inclusive.

Kennedy Canales is a student at Plattsburgh Senior High School. She petitioned leadership to start a “Jesus Club.”

School leaders signed off on another student’s secular club, but the Jesus Club was rejected.

Kennedy was told by school administrators that the Jesus Club was not inclusive and could not be overtly Christian. Instead, they recommended a more generic name – like the “Faith Club.”

Kennedy was subjected to an onslaught of public hostility from students and teachers, including being questioned by a teacher in front of her classmates during class. She has also repeatedly been the victim of gossip and slander for standing up for what she believes in.

The American Center for Law and Justice is now representing Kennedy.

“We’re dealing with multiple schools across the country that are doing similar things, telling students their Christian clubs aren’t inclusive enough, ACLJ attorney Nathan Moelker said on my Newsmax show. “We had another case actually also in New York recently where students were ordered to tear down their Christian posters because they had a cross on them. So school administrators are becoming more and more free to try to silence Christian clubs and that is not the law and it’s not acceptable.”

Moelker says the school has violated the Equal Access Act. Under the law – public schools must allow religious clubs on equal terms. If you let the non-Christians have a club – you have to let the Christians have a club.

The notion that Jesus is not inclusive is simply not true. The Bible clearly quotes Jesus as offering a personal invitation to everyone – “Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
