So George Washington U’s New Mascot is NOT a Braying Jackass?

George Washington University is getting a new nickname.

Students had complained that the Colonials mascot was extremely offensive. The original nickname was chosen in 1926 to honor the 13 colonies who secured our independence as a nation.

George Washington says the Colonials were a symbol of systemic oppression. Although anyone educated in a private school or homeschool knows that we owe our nation to the colonialists.

But those arguments fell on deaf ears.

And moving forward George Washington’s athletic teams will be known as the Revolutionaries.

“This is an exciting day for the George Washington University Revolutionaries,” university president Mark Wrighton said. “I am very grateful for the active engagement of our community throughout the development of the new moniker. This process was truly driven by our students, faculty, staff and alumni, and the result is a moniker that broadly reflects our community—and our distinguished and distinguishable GW spirit.”

There were more than 47,000 suggestions and that’s the best name they could come up with. The Revolutionaries.

Someone suggested the Founding Fathers – but I suspect the gals who wear sensible shoes put the kibosh on that.

I’m a bit disappointed the university took a pass on my recommendations.

The GW Snowflakes and the Red Stars topped my list of new nicknames. A close third was an homage to the woke progressives of the Democrat Party – – the George Washington University Braying Jackasses.
