A tenth grader at a Seattle-area high school failed a quiz after he wrote that only women can get pregnant and only men have man-parts.
Jason Rantz, a radio host at KTTH in Seattle, broke the story. Click here to read his exclusive report.
The quiz was delivered during an Ethnic Studies World History class at Chief Sealth International High School.
Many of the questions focused on the preferred pronoun crowd and transgenderism.
A parent reached out to Mr. Rantz after she was given the cold shoulder by school administrators. She says teachers routinely bring their political and sexual beliefs into the classroom.
“I keep trying to wrap my head around how it is legal to teach inaccurate information and force students to answer against their beliefs or receive negative scores,” she told Rantz. She asked for anonymity for fear her son would face retribution.
Her son has also faced scrutiny because of his skin color and privilege. The young man is white.
The school district defended the class and noted the quiz was inclusive and appropriate for an ethnic studies class.
“Seattle Public Schools is dedicated to establishing inclusive environments that allow exploration of contemporary issues, specifically examining the impacts of power systems such as racism and patriarchy,” a district spokesperson told KTTH. “This commitment extends to fostering welcoming and inclusive settings where students, staff, and families have the freedom to express their authentic selves.”
On a side note – why are we wasting tax dollars on an ethnic studies class? Back when I was in high school they offered classes on home economics, auto repair and how to balance your checkbook. And all of us knew our personal pronouns.
