A community college in Pennsylvania is facing controversy after a conservative student said he was impeached and removed from his student government position because of his support for President Trump.
Frank Scales, the president of the Student Government Association at the Community College of Philadelphia, said all he wanted to do was make education great again.
“During the General Assembly they argued that I cannot serve as Student Government President because I endorsed Donald Trump for President,” Scales wrote on social media. “They said I am not allowed to have political opinions, yet when someone said I shouldn’t have voted for Trump and brought up my ethnicity as a white male, they cheered.”
“Quite frankly, yesterday’s Assembly was a communist struggle session,” he wrote.
The College Fix reports that even some faculty members were in on the conspiracy to remove the pro-Trump student leader.
“Professor Jeffrey Markovitz, who co-advises for the student government, also said in an email to the SGA members at the time that he would ‘not associate in any way with Frank Scales,’ adding, ‘His ethics and behaviors are in direct conflict with mine, and I will no longer compromise my values,’ according to documents Scales provided to The Fix,” the news organization reported.
Scales was also accused of using hate speech, The Fix reported.
“Specifically, you are accused of using derogatory language in reference to people of color and other marginalized groups, disrupting queer-sponsored events, and being verbally abusive in your tone and words towards others (not just students),” according to a letter from the college.
I’d wager a Chick-fil-A sandwich he probably forgot to use someone’s preferred pronouns.
Regardless, the conservative student said he will not be deterred by the impeachment vote or his ouster.
“I will continue to stand behind my beliefs and fight, fight, fight ideologically-captured lazy employees and corrupt college officials to ensure that students of all backgrounds are respected, represented, and supported,” he said. “Simply, we will make sure they do their damn jobs.”
