Teacher Builds Classroom for ‘Non-White Students’

A fourth grade teacher at Utah’s William Penn Elementary School is turning her classroom into a space built for non-white students. 

Should woke teachers be removed from the classroom?

“For the first time in my life, I’m going to be teaching at a majority-White school, and I’m kind of interested to see how students and parents react to my classroom, or if they even notice anything about it, because it’s built for non-White students,” said the unidentified teacher in a TikTok video.

Now, that’s a bit unusual — especially for a school that is predominantly white.

She was also flummoxed that there were no books about gender identity in the school library. 

So she built her own classroom library – filled with books about characters of color and different gender identities and sexual orientations. 

Books written by and about straight white guys were not included. 

“I feel like some parents might have something to say about that — if my experience with posh, White parents holds true for this year. We’ll see,” she said.

The teacher’s suspicions turned out to be valid. Concerned parents alerted school leaders and now the woke educator is under investigation and on leave.

In a statement to television station KUTV, Granite School District officials called the video “disconcerting.”

“Granite District recently learned of the personal social media post by a new 4th grade teacher at one of our elementary schools. The post is allegedly several weeks old. The comments made by this employee are very disconcerting and she has been placed on leave while the District investigates the matter. It would e in violation of our District policies and State Board Rule to teach anything other than the approved curriculum and standards or to discriminate against any student. As soon as our investigation is complete, we anticipate taking appropriate corrective action. We know that it is our role as educators is to support parents and the families we serve and we value our parents and their engagement our schools and classrooms.”

That’s the only way we are going to be able to root out racists in our classrooms. 

Public schools should be teaching kids how to add and subtract, read and write. 

Instead, they are promoting critical race theory — and that’s going to lead to long form division.
