Hello Americans, I’m Todd Starnes. Stand by for news and commentary next.
The University of Pennsylvania has nominated Lia Thomas for the NCAA’s Woman of the Year award.
Mr. Thomas identifies as transgender. He’s a man who wears a female swimsuit.
The NCAA’s award was established in 1991. It recognizes female student-athletes who distinguished themselves in their community, academics athletics.
In Mr. Thomas’ case, he smashed historic swimming records originally set by biological female athletes and crushed his female competition.
The Independent Council on Women’s Sports says the NCAA needs to admit there are fundamental and biological differences between men and women.
“There is a biological difference between men and women,” they told Fox News. “And if we can’t agree that that foundational truth is a reality, then how can we protect our girls and women?”
The mother of one Ivy League swimmer called the nomination humiliating and devastating.
Kim Jones, whose daughter competed against Mr. Thomas, says UPenn is sending a message that women don’t matter. And clearly, neither does biology.
“[The message is] they’re not even worthy of dignity and comfort in their locker rooms. And this nomination is just the embodiment of that message. It’s really frustrating to understand where the current NCAA and Ivy League and especially Penn’s stance is on the value of women in modern society,” Jones told Fox News.
For better or for worse the University of Pennsylvania believes their most accomplished female student is in fact a man.
