Christian School Punished For Refusing to Compete Against Trans Athletes

A Vermont Christian school is fighting back after they were kicked out of the state’s largest athletic association because they refused to let their girls basketball team compete against a squad that included a six-foot-tall man.

Mid Vermont Christian School chose to forfeit the game rather than violate their religious beliefs regarding sex and gender. There were also serious safety concerns about girls competing against a large man.

The Vermont Principal’s Association, the largest athletic organization in the state, retaliated by kicking the Christian school out of its association.

“If you don’t want to follow VPA rules, that’s fine,” VPA executive director Jay Nichols told local media. “But then you’re just not a VPA member. It’s fairly simple.”

That means the Eagles are no longer allowed to compete in any athletic competitions — and that includes academic competitions.

The school believes that boys are boys and girls are girls. And as a result of that belief, they are no longer allowed to participate in Math and Science Fairs or even compete in debates.

Alliance Defending Freedom, one of the nation’s top religious liberty law firms, filed a federal suit on behalf of the school.

“Vermont cannot discriminate against a Christian school and its families based on their religious beliefs,” ADF said in a statement. “This civil rights action seeks to protect a Christian school and its students and parents from unconstitutional religious discrimination and hostility.”

This sort of discrimination is not all that unusual, as I documented in my book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation.” Click here to read my book.

“Vermont has repeatedly discriminated against Christian schools and their families for following their religious beliefs,” ADF senior counsel Ryan Tucker told Fox News. “Put simply, Mid Vermont Christian School believes that boys are boys and girls are girls. They have been punished for this belief. No school or parent should have to change their beliefs to participate in athletics or a state tuition program.”

Would you let your daughter compete against a male athlete?
