Dozens of Montana State University students turned out to protest a mandatory campus mask policy. But pro-mask fundamentalists also showed up with megaphones.
“Being on this campus is not a God-given right. It is an opportunity that we were all given. It’s a privilege,” said one pro-mask fundamentalist said. “If you want to keep the privilege, then wear a mask.”
MSU President Waded Cruzado said effective immediately the university would require masks in indoor spaces it had previously exempted in an earlier requirement, including dorms and dining halls.
Students are also required to wear face coverings in indoor hallways, offices, the MSU library, residence halls, the Strand Union Building and dining halls. Masks continued to be required in classrooms, labs and other learning spaces.

Young Americans For Liberty staged the rally as well as a petition that has generated well over a thousand signatures calling on the university’s president to rescind the fascist regulations.
“I believe Benjamin Franklin said that someone who is willing to sacrifice their freedom for a little bit of safety deserves neither, and I would agree fully that our freedom to make these decisions for us is better than the safety,” said student Luke Herzog.
Rylee Niesent, a well-known student leader, phoned in to the Todd Starnes Radio Show during the rally. Click here to listen to the full interview.
TODD: [01:43:47] On the PATRIOT MOBILE NEWSMAKER LINE is Rylee Niesent – one of our regulars on the show. Rylee, a young conservative, they are heading up a big protest at this hour at Montana State University over the China virus. Rylee, what’s going on?
NIESENT: [01:44:10] So are we. We’ve had a couple of dozen protesters right now bunched all protesting the mask mandate protest in the mass media and the potential vaccine mandate. We’re getting quite a bit of lash back right now from both the university and students. And I have to say that I’m pretty shocked by the police presence here on campus, circling our protest, and we obviously are nothing about peaceful, but it’s pretty shocking, I would say.
TODD: [01:44:37] So, Rylee, you guys are out there, there wanting to implement these mandatory mask and vaccine policies. And we understand that conservatives and other students on campus are fighting back. And you’re telling me to call the cops out on you guys?
NIESENT: [01:44:51] Yeah, there’s a pretty heavy police presence here on campus right now.
TODD: [01:44:55] Unbelievable. What has been the response from your from students there? Are they are they joining the cause? We can hear a lot of noise in the background.
NIESENT: [01:45:03] Yeah. So so we we started a petition and it’s actually the largest pettion in the history of Montana State University to end the math mandate. It has, I think, 1,100 signatures right now out of 16,000 since they go to Montana State and the president of the university refuses to meet with any of us.
TODD: [01:45:28] Unbelievable, such cowardice. That’s what that is. That is cowardice. All right, Rylee – we appreciate the update.
