Cancel Culture Mob Targets Memphis Meteorologist

The cancel culture mob is trying to take down a beloved meteorologist in Memphis.

Joey Sulipeck, a meteorologist at Fox 13, is facing a firestorm of controversy for posting a tweet during the NBA playoffs that some are calling a racist trope.

“And chew on this: Draymond runs his knuckle-dragging open mouth ALL GAME LONG, but mild-mannered Kyle Anderson disputes one call and gets ejected?” Sulipeck tweeted Saturday. “Next level jackassery.”

Sulipeck posted the tweet after Memphis Grizzlies forward Kyle Anderson was ejected in the fourth quarter of Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors.

In other words, the weather guy was tweeting what most of Memphis was thinking.

Sulipeck apologized for any offense the tweet might have caused and he deleted his account.

“Anyone who knows me knows what I am. Race is never an issue to me. To anyone who was offended, I apologize but there was no ill intent.”

Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr condemned Sulipeck.

“Does it surprise me that a weatherman would tweet a slur at Draymond in 2022? Not in the slightest bit. This is America. This is how we operate,” he said.

Fox 13 says they are investigating.

“During Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies’ game, Meteorologist Joey Sulipeck tweeted a comment that does not reflect the values of FOX13,” the station tweeted Monday. “We take this matter very seriously and will take appropriate action pending a full investigation.”

Among those calling out the weather guy is Evan Barnes, a reporter for the left-wing “Commercial Appeal,” a failing newspaper in Memphis.

“Emotions are high right now among teams and fans over the play in question but this right here? @joeysulipeck – unacceptable. Memo to @FOX13Memphis – talk to your mans and check him. This is over the line and I won’t stand for it. This is bullsh-t,” the foul-mouthed reporter tweeted.

A few thoughts:

  1. Joey Sulipeck is not a racist.
  2. The phrase “knuckle dragger is not a racist trope and if you read Sulipeck’s tweets you knew exactly what he was saying.
  3. The Commercial Appeal is a failed leftist newspaper just trying to stay relevant.
  4. Fox 13 should stand up for their staffer and tell the haters to take a flying flip.
  5. Never apologize to the cancel culture mob. They don’t want your apology. They want your scalp.
