9-1-1 Operator: “We Were Told By Our Mayor to Stand Down”

Motorists in Columbus, Ohio are beyond frustrated by protesters who are blocking roadways and surrounding cars.

In a 9-1-1 call yesterday, in broad daylight, a man calls 9-1-1- in fear of protesters as they surrounded his car and blocked streets while he tried to get home from work. What was this man told?

“They surrounded my car, they’re blocking traffic, the police need to protect me,” says caller in downtown Columbus.

The dispatcher is heard telling the man, “We were told by our mayor to stand down. So, the mayor has given them full rein of the streets.”

State Rep. Nino Vitale condemned Mayor Andrew Ginther for refusing to stop the rampaging protesters.

“It does not matter if the police are defunded, Mayor Ginther in Columbus has already turned the city into an anarchy zone where there is no police protection,” he wrote on Facebook. “Law abiding citizens trying to get home from work, BEWARE.”

Columbus Police say they have not been told to stand down. However, the 9-1-1 dispatcher believes otherwise.

“The truth from last night’s call captured in this video, while driving through the Mayor Ginther created war zone says otherwise,” he said.
