We begin today with a shocking story from the Bronx in New York City.
The office of Congressman Ritchie Torres was vandalized. Congressman Torres has been one of the strongest pro-Israel voices in the Democrat caucus.
He said anti-Israel activists left a doll covered in blood red paint at his congressional office. The doll represented Baby Jesus. The vandals described our Lord as a “Palestinian child messiah.”
The congressman responded on X:
GFX: “The escalation in intimidation and incitement against Members of Congress feels like it is heading in a dangerous direction.
A few days ago the congressman was heckled by pro-Hamas goons at a Jewish Community Center on New York City’s Upper East Side.
“Ritchie Torres, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.” – that’s what they chanted – over and over and over again.
Torres said he would not be intimidated.
The congressman said he believes in Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and he believes in the U.S.-Israel relationship and he promised to never waver. He sounds more pro-Israel than some on the Republican side of the aisle.
Very few people in the media understand what I’m about to tell you. What’s happening in the Middle East is not some sort of geo-political war. We are in the early days of what is a holy war.
The radical Islamists are coming after all of us – the Christians and the Jews. That’s why they tried to cancel Christmas. That’s why they tried to disrupt Christmas concerts and tree lightings. They terrorized shoppers in New York City and in small towns like Collierville Tennessee. That’s why they tried to disrupt Hanukkah celebrations.
Some cities actually canceled holiday celebrations over fears it might offend or cause outrage among the pro-Hamas mob.
I hope our elected leaders are paying attention to what’s happening in this country. Political solutions to a religious problem will not work.
And neither will hiding under a rock.
Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. That’s what Bonhoeffer said. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.
Republican and Democrat. Christian and Jew. We must stand and declare with one voice that we are one nation under God – and we will not be silenced. And we will not allow history to repeat itself.
On Christmas Day, anti-Israel extremists vandalized my Bronx Office with red paint, symbolizing blood.
