Black Lives Matter Threatens to Shut Down Turning Point USA Speech in Memphis

A free speech controversy is raging at the University of Memphis.

Turning Point USA is hosting an event featuring Kyle Rittenhouse – the teenager who was acquitted of all charges after he shot three men – killing two during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The jury found he acted in self-defense.

Rittenhouse will deliver a speech on March 20th at the taxpayer-funded university.

“I look forward to coming out to Memphis and seeing you all there,” he wrote on X.

Black Lives Matter is organizing a protest and is vowing to shut down the Turning Point event.

Former Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer, a radical black activist, who is running for public office, is among the most outspoken critics.

“This is despicable,” she wrote on X. “What are you recapping, Kyle? How to kill people and get away with it? How to grift your way into fame by being a racist?”

Sawyer is enraged that a white man like Rittenhouse is delivering a speech in a city that has a majority black population.

“A school in a city that is majority Black. You’re allowing a racist and murderer to speak on campus,” she wrote on X. “Please help me understand this happening in this 65% black city.”

TPUSA Ozark Field Representative Anne-Elizabeth Matheny blasted the activist mob during an interview on KWAM News Radio Memphis.

“We can’t take away free speech. Matheny told KWAM. “We’re supposed to encourage all ideologies at a campus of diversity as everyone claims it is … but diversity means including conservative voices thoughts and ideals as well.”

Sawyer also lashed out at people “breeding hatred” and then lobbed an ominous threat on social media.

“I just hope that @uofmemphis knows that if they don’t shut this down, the people will.”

Memphis was recently named one of the most violent cities in the nation – so it’s not all that difficult to understand what Sawyer meant with her dubious post.

There’s no doubt that conservatives are peaceful and law-abiding. That being said, I’m pretty sure Kyle Rittenhouse and the conservatives can handle any threat that comes their way.

Should Kyle Rittenhouse be allowed to deliver a speech on a taxpayer-funded university campus?
