BREAKING: Police responded to an “active shooter” at a Kroger in Collierville, Tennessee Thursday afternoon with 13 victims, one dead, officials said.
The suspected shooter is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
“It’s with a broken heart that I have to stand here today. So please keep the families in your prayers,” Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said, calling it “the most horrific event that’s occurred in Collierville history.”
The “active” situation is taking place at the Kroger at 240 New Byhalia Rd, according to officials.
National radio host Todd Starnes gave credit to the police for reportedly arriving four minutes after getting the first 9-1-1 call.

Collierville Police, Memphis Police, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Officer are all working the incident, Breaking911 reports.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said her office is in contact with ATF, TBI, and local authorities on the ground.
“We are closely monitoring the situation in Collierville,” Blackburn tweeted. “We are praying for all of the victims.”
