BREAKING: Man in Gas Mask Opens Fire on NYC Subway Commuters
DEVELOPING STORY: At least 13 people were injured during a mass shooting onboard a subway bound for New York City.
An FDNY spokesperson told the New York Post that multiple undetonated devices were also found on scene.
Video that was posted to social media shows a gruesome scene inside the 35th Street subway station in Sunset Park – Brooklyn. The video showed multiple victims lying on the ground as smoke filled the station.
One passenger aboard the N-train told the New York Post there was a massive barrage of bullets.
“There was like, lots of them. I don’t even know how many,” she said.
She described the gunman as a 5-foot-5 black man, around 170 pounds wearing an orange vest and gas mask — drop “some kind of cylinder that sparked at the top.”
“I thought he was an MTA worker at first because I was like, I didn’t like pay too much attention. You know? You’ve got the orange on,” she said.
A spokesperson for the mayor, who is in isolation at home with COVID, said he has been briefed and asks, “New Yorkers to stay away from this area for their safety and so that first responders can help those in need and investigate.”
Television station WABC reports that schools in the area are on lockdown and several other subway lines have been shut down.
