The mayor of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, lashed out at police officers in the aftermath of the shooting of a suspect who refused to comply with officers.
“I don’t believe that officers need to necessarily have weapons every time they’re making a traffic stop,” Mayor Mike Elliott said during a press conference.
City leaders also passed a resolution banning officers from using any crowd control devices, including rubber bullets.
The police chief and the officer who fired the fatal shot have resigned.
