UPDATE: Three people were killed Saturday after a gunman targeted black people at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida.
“This shooting was racially motivated and he hated black people,” Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said at a press conference.
The suspect, who killed himself, is described as a white man in his 20’s. He reportedly left behind three manifestos outlining his “disgusting ideology of hate” and his motive in the attack.

Mayor Donna Deegan and State Rep. Angie Nixon were also on the scene. “It’s a heartbreaking this for our community,” Deegan told First Coast News. “It’s awful and it has happened in this community way too many times.”

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson Eric Prosswimmer told CNN that the department was “on standby” to treat victims but could not share any information about how many people were hurt.
