The officers pulled what appeared to be a significant amount of ammunition for several types of weapons from a blue sedan that hotel workers said the man had been driving. He was wearing a camouflage face mask, sunglasses, a hat and gloves as he stood outside the Marriott Dallas Uptown, The New York Times reports.

A member of Mr. Paxton’s campaign said that he had seen the man enter the hotel and asked to use the restroom.

The staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the unfolding police investigation, said the man told him he was an Uber driver, but the staff member doubted that story, observing that the car he was driving appeared to have no plates.
