Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot threatened police officers who have refused to get the China virus vaccine, accusing the officers of attempting to “induce an insurrection.”

Lightfoot said her expectation was that “people who swore an oath to serve and protect the city are going to honor that oath and they’re going to show up, they’re going to report for duty, and they’re going to comply with a legal directive from the city and an order from the police department.”

She added: “Anything less would be insubordination.”

The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has been staunchly opposed to the mandate.

Last week, FOP President John Catanzara said that if officers were turned away, the city would have a police force “at 50% or less for this weekend coming up.”

“I do not believe the city has the authority to mandate that to anybody, let alone that information about your medical history,” he said.

Chicago Police Superintendent David O. Brown said that those officers who do choose to retire rather than follow City Hall’s orders “may be denied retirement credentials,” the Chicago Tribune reported.
