Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon Building — setting off a chaotic morning as lawmakers prepared to vote on a resolution to keep the government open.
Sources told Fox News and Fox News Digital that Bowman is being questioned by the Capitol Police’s criminal investigation unit.

House Administration Committee Chair Bryan Steil (R-WI) said the matter is being investigated.
“Rep. Jamal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning. An investigation into why it was pulled is underway,” Steil said in a statement.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy condemned the behavior of the progressive lawmaker.
“I think [House] Ethics should look at this but this is serious. When you think of how other people are treated, when they wanted to come in and change the course of what was happening in this building,” Speaker McCarthy told journalists, referring to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
“I’m going to have a discussion with the Democratic leader about it. But this should not go without punishment. This is an embarrassment. You’re elected to be a member of Congress. You pulled the fire alarm in a minute of hours before the government being shut down, trying to dictate that government would shut down,” he added.
Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY), the ranking Democratic member of the House Administration Committee, told Axios the allegations are a “serious matter” and that “it appears from the footage to be him, but I haven’t talked to him.”
Bowman’s spokesperson told Axios that it was an unfortunate accident.
“Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote. The Congressman regrets any confusion.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling on Bowman to face the same charges that January 6th protesters have faced.
“I’m calling on the DOJ to prosecute him using the same law they used to prosecute J6 defendants for interfering with an official proceeding,” she said. “The Democrats literally will do anything to shut OUR government down because billions aren’t going to their favorite country: Ukraine.”
