The massive Reconciliation Memorial erected at the urging of Congress after the Civil War has been dismantled and removed from Arlington National Cemetery.
The memorial was unveiled in 1914 but became the most recent victim of the Critical Race Theory Cancel Culture Mob.
The memorial was meant to be a symbol of reconciliation – a peace offering from the Union to the defeated Confederates.
Instead, the final resting place for southern soldiers has now been desecrated.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin disagrees with the decision and plans to move the monument to the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park in the Shenandoah Valley, Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter told NBC News.
Dozens of House Republicans said an independent commission overstepped its authority when it recommended that the monument be removed. The congressmen contended that the monument “does not honor nor commemorate the Confederacy; the memorial commemorates reconciliation and national unity.”
“The Department of Defense must respect Congress’ clear legislative intentions regarding the Naming Commission’s legislative authority” they wrote in a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
