The following is a transcript of Todd’s morning commentary – heard on hundreds of stations around the nation.
Black Friday turned violent in major cities around the nation – mobs of looters hit a number of high end stores. Louis Vuitton in San Francisco. Nordstrom in Los Angeles. A pair of Best Buy stories in Minnesota. A Foot Locker in Chicago.
“Retailers across the country are seeing spikes in crime. These incidents have been, by and large, non-violent though often traumatic for those who witnessed them,” Best Buy said in a statement released to Breitbart. “As an industry, we are working with local law enforcement and taking additional security precautions where it makes sense.”
The lawlessness blamed in part on bail reform laws – and city councils that defunded police departments.
In many cities shoplifters are back on the streets within hours of being arrested.
In San Francisco a 2014 law basically decriminalized shoplifting – thefts under $950 are treated as rarely prosecuted misdemeanors.
As a result – dozens of stores – including Walgreens and CVS have closed – all targets of the looters..
That being said – there are two solutions to end all of this lawlessness.
Either unleash the police and give them the resources they need to fight crime. Or allow stores to arm their security guards and give them the following orders: “Either drop the merchandise or we will drop you.”
It’s also worth noting that all of the supporters of bail reform are Democrats. Elections have consequences.
Two large groups of people walked into two Best Buy locations in Minnesota and stole as much as they could before fleeing. This was the latest incident in a recent spike in “flash mob” thefts. pic.twitter.com/JWwVV01Ydy
