Nobody can have fun in the Village of Villa Park, Illinois because the town is run by a bunch of leftist party poopers.
The village recently became infuriated because children were congregating on playgrounds and skate parks. So they shut it all down.
“Villa Park’s playgrounds have been closed and surrounded by snow fencing to prohibit residents from using these facilities,” a faceless, soulless bureaucrat wrote on the town’s Facebook page.
Jess, one of our great readers and radio listeners in the area, tipped me off about the hateful actions of City Hall.
But what they did to the skate park is off the charts.
“Staff has received numerous resident complaints about skateboarders using the skate park playground,” the faceless, nameless goon wrote. “These complaints have resulted in staff and police officers continually asking skateboarders to leave the area. This is a very inefficient use of staff and police officer time.”
So the town decided to fill the skate park with wood chips — wood chips!
“The Village did not purchase these wood chips -these chips are from trees that have been removed throughout the village and ground up into free wood chips,” they said. “Eventually, when the wood chips are removed from the skate park playground, they will be provided free to our residents.”
Reader Jess was among those outraged by the town’s heavy-handed actions.
“This particular Park was built by donations that Villa Park teenagers collected on their own about four or five years ago,” Jess told me. “This action has many of the residence very upset. I believe a father and his son were caught skating a few days ago along with some other teens who had crossed over the construction fence that has been put up around it. What I don’t understand, is that we can go golfing here now but our children who need an outlet cannot go skating in the sunshine outside at a skate park.”
