Memphis Pastor Shot in Church Parking Lot Trying to Stop Car Theft

A Memphis pastor was shot in the parking lot of his church Sunday morning when he tried to stop thugs from stealing a Sunday school teacher’s car.

Memphis Police say the shooting happened at New Zionfield Baptist Church at 9:13 a.m.

Pastor Clemmie Livingston, Jr., 70, was rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, television station WREG reported. He was shot in the face.

“Just sad and ridiculous the church ain’t even safe from crime,” wrote one furious Memphian on social media.

Memphis Police say they are searching for two black men wearing hoodies. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Memphis residents say they are disgusted by the violence that has plagued the Democrat-controlled city.

“Beyond sickening and sad,” said one member of the KWAM News Radio “Stop Memphis Crime” page.

“It’s going to take politicians, judges to be carjacked and in order for this crime problem to be addressed with serious and deadly consequences. It’s only a problem when it comes to the higher ups door steps,” wrote another.

“Is there anything sacred? We have thugs robbing and carjacking people trying to worship. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” wrote yet another.
