John Schreiber, a photojournalist at CBS LA, posted the viral footage Thursday that many online compared to a third world country being run by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

“Keep hearing of train burglaries in LA on the scanner so went to #LincolnHeights to see it all,” he tweeted. “And… there’s looted packages as far as the eye can see. Amazon packages, @UPS boxes, unused COVID tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains.”

Schreiber said many of the packages were headed for the Pacific Northwest and the robbers used the train’s stop at the Union Pacific Intermodal facility in downtown Los Angeles to break into the containers.

He also reported that the area is under the Union Pacific Police’s patrol, not the LAPD, and they saw officers two people off the tracks Thursday.
