There is much debate over the Second Amendment in the aftermath of the Fourth of July terrorist attack in Highland Park, Illinois.
Seven people are dead and more than two dozen others were wounded when a gunman opened fire on a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois.
At least 60 people were murdered in Chicago over the long weekend — but the media is focused solely on what happened in Highland Park – a very affluent suburb.
The investigation continues and soon we will know the gunman’s motive. Until that happens – social media is filled with speculation and conjecture.
But there are some facts that we can address.
Chicago and Highland Park have some of the toughest gun laws on the books. According to the police, the gunman lawfully obtained his weapons.
Both cities also have red flag laws.
Police now admit they made multiple calls to the suspect’s home over the past several years — so why was the suspect never flagged?
The Highland Park police department was called to the suspect’s home in April 2019 after learning that he had tried to commit suicide, Breitbart reports.
“The second occurred in September of 2019. A family member reported that Crimo said he was going to kill everyone and Crimo had a collection of knives,” Covelli said. “The police responded to his residence. The police removed 16 Knives, a dagger, and a sword from Crimo home.”

Everything the anti-gun crowd is advocating nationally — they had already codified in Highland Park as well as Chicago.
In 2015 the Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to Highland Park’s strict ban on so-called assault rifles and high capacity magazines.
In other words — Highland Park city leaders made sure that the only person armed with a rifle and high capacity magazines on July 4th — was the gunman.
