WAR ZONE: Two Dozen High-End Stores Leaving Downtown San Francisco

There is a mass exodus of businesses from the war-torn streets of downtown San Francisco.

Nordstrom, the high-end retailer says it will close both stores – including the one inside the luxury Westfield Mall – end 35 years of business on Market Street.

And it’s not the only downtown store packing up and moving out. Anthropologie, Whole Foods, Abercrombie and Fitch, The Container Store and Office Depot are among those shutting down. Gap and Crate and Barrel, too. More than 20 businesses in all.

Nordstrom released a statement blaming the shutdowns on a changing dynamic. And by changing dynamic – they mean crime.

The operators of Westfield Mall were a bit less diplomatic.

“The planned closure of Nordstrom underscores the deteriorating situation in downtown San Francisco,” said a mall spokesperson. “A growing number of retailers and businesses are leaving the area due to the unsafe conditions for customers, retailers, and employees, coupled with the fact that these significant issues are preventing an economic recovery of the area.”

San Francisco is controlled by progressive Democrats. Under their rule – the beautiful city by the bay has been turned into a filthy wasteland. Dirty needles in playgrounds. Homeless encampments and human feces everywhere.

“Safety, and cleanliness, and we’ve put our money where our mouth is, but we have challenges, and we can’t deny those challenges, as a matter of fact we have to stop denying those challenges,” Supervisor Aaron Peskin told NBC News.

Ironically, while progressive Mayor London Breed was promising do to something about the uptick in violence, police were summoned to Nordstrom over a disturbance. A local news crew was on hand to document the incident.

“It’s really disappointing and a little bit sad, I think that San Francisco is headed in the right direction, we’re doing a lot of really good work to clean up our streets, to bring people back to the office, to bring up foot traffic. But it sounds like maybe we didn’t do enough, quick enough,” Daniel Herzstein, director of public policy at the SF Chamber of Commerce, told the television station.

Progressive Democrats would rather have a dystopian society instead of law and order. It’s their idea of a leftwing utopia.

All that to say – good luck finding a U-Haul truck in the Bay Area.
