All three of tonight’s NBA playoff games have been postpointed after players decided to boycott.
The NBA and NBPA confirmed that all three games were officially cancelled as players showed their support for Jacob Blake, who was shot during an altercation with police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says officers were attempting to arrest Blake during a call about a woman complaining that her boyfriend was not supposed to be at her residence.
Officers deployed a taser to stop Blake, but that did not work. He walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door and leaned forward. That’s when an officer opened fire.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice reports Blake had admitted he had a knife and agents recovered a knife from the driver’s side floorboard of his vehicle.
Was it a justified shooting? Well, the tragic incident is still under investigation.
“The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association today announced that in light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to not take the floor today for Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, today’s three games – Bucks vs. Magic, Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers – have been postponed. Game 5 of each series will be rescheduled,” the statement read.”F–K THIS MAN!!!! WE DEMAND CHANGE. SICK OF IT,” LeBron James wrote on Twitter.
LeBron’s profane indignation is puzzling.
I don’t seem to recall him being this outraged over the bloodshed in Chicago’s South Side. Nor do I recall him being outraged over the death of that little North Carolina boy who was executed in his family’s front yard – or the white motorist who was beaten in the streets – or Capt. David Dorn, the retired Missouri police officer who was executed in cold blood.
Do you believe the NBA would’ve suspended tonight’s playoff games if the Kenosha suspect would’ve stabbed the police officer to death?
