A Canadian school board gender consultant who called Jesus a “drag queen” in a Good Friday tweet is facing backlash.
Sara Savoia, the Ottawa-Charleton District School Board’s Trans and Gender Diverse Student Support Coordinator, has since deleted the tweet, per a Fox News report.
“Here’s a reminder that Jesus himself was a radical activist … and a drag queen. And also not white,” she wrote.
The false accusation against Jesus was followed by a meme showing Jesus wearing a white robe and reading to children.
The caption of the illustration was “Oh look, it’s a man in a dress telling stories to children.”
Savoia identifies herself with “she/they” pronouns according to her Twitter profile.

Fox reports that education advocate Christina Bairos Fernandes said Savoia’s “disrespect is mind-bending.”
Other commenters slammed Savoia’s tweet as “out-of-touch” for insinuating everyone who wears traditional Middle Eastern clothing is a drag queen.
Following the outrage sparked by the tweet, Savoia deleted it and locked her account.
Dr. Aaron Rock, the pastor of Harvest Bible Church in Windsor, Ontario told a Canadian news outlet that the tweet is “offensive to all Christians.”
“The very notion that (Jesus) dressed as a woman so he could entertain children is offensive to all Christians and unbecoming of a public official,” Rock said.
Fox reports this is not the first time Savoia has incited controversy in the school district.
She allegedly proposed students make “pronoun flowers” to celebrate “International Pronouns Day” and shared a presentation for “Trans Visibility Week.”
