Ruh-roh! The new Scooby-Doo movie from Warner Bros. has gone full-blown woke.
The “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo” film, which premiers on Cartoon Network Oct. 14 depicts Velma as a member of the LGBT movement.
“Velma is officially a lesbian,” Variety reports.
“Mystery Inc. has cracked the case to top all cases!” the description reads. “They’ve tracked down Coco Diablo, the head of the notorious costume crime syndicate that colludes The Black Knight, Space Kook and the Ghost Diver. With Coco and her kitty in prison, Mystery Inc. thinks that they can finally enjoy a break. Wrong! Suddenly, menacing doppelgänger ghosts of the Scooby crew and favorite classic foes show up in Coolsville to threaten Halloween. Now it’s up to the meddling kids – and their unlikely new partner Coco – to unmask the latest scoundrel and save Halloween! For Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, with trick-or-treating on the line – this time it’s personal!”

The popular kids series that dates back to 1969 has always depicted Velma as straight with frequent innuendos of her having a crush on Shaggy.

Hayley Kiyoko, a former Velma actress, celebrated the news.
“I remember booking Velma in 2008. It was my first big role in a movie. I also remember thinking ‘I wonder if they know they hired a lesbian as Velma’ here we are, 14 years later……😂 love you all so much,” Kyoko tweeted.
Woke Twitter also blew up.
“OMG LESBIAN VELMA FINALLY,” one user, who got over 100,000 likes, wrote.
“Finally! Velma, friend, WE always knew! And for gen x non-binary nerds this is the cartoon representation we never knew we needed and would have never thought to ask for,” Kelli Dunham, a comedian, said.
