Evangelical philanthropist Franklin Graham recently told The Todd Starnes Show that Operation Christmas Child experienced “the best year ever” after preparing nearly 11 million shoebox presents to be sent overseas.

“The individuals and churches and families will have packed close to 11 million boxes this year,” Graham told Starnes. “The key to this – we ask people to pray before you send the box.”

“Pray for the child who’s going to get your box.”

Graham said OCC is an “evangelistic project” within the international aid organization Samaritan’s Purse. Check out Graham’s entire interview here.

OCC describes itself as a ministry providing “local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

“I want the children to know that God loves them … that God cares about them,” Graham told Starnes. “I want the children of the world to know the true meaning of Christmas.”

Graham, 67, said he has “no clue” which exact children will receive a box, “but God does.”

Shoebox drop-off locations are open across the U.S. during National Collection Week, the third week of November.

Graham said several shoebox recipients have later gone on to work for Samaritan’s Purse.

“We call that full circle.”
