Hello Americans, I’m Todd Starnes. Stand by for news and commentary next.

There’s a life or death situation happening at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville.

The parents of a seven-month-old baby say their son has been denied a life-saving heart transplant.

Should Vanderbilt give unvaccinated child a heart transplant?

Baby August was turned away because he has not been vaccinated. His parents say vaccines of any kind violate their religious beliefs. To make matters even more difficult – Baby August has no spleen and his immune system is severely compromised.

Earlier this year Tennessee lawmakers rejected a bill that would have banned hospitals like Vanderbilt from discriminating against patients because of their vaccination status.

Tennessee Stands – a conservative activist group – says Governor Bill Lee was directly responsible for killing the legislation.

“Not only did the bill die, but representatives of the governor’s office and the Tennessee Dept. of Health showed up in committee to testify against the bill,” Tennessee Stands wrote in a statement. “Governor Bill Lee is directly responsible for killing this bill.”

As a result Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and the Republican-controlled Tennessee legislature have effectively given Baby August a death sentence.

Tennessee Stands also called out Senators Mike Bell, Todd Gardenhire, Sara Kyle, London Lamar, John Lundberg, Paul Rose and John Stevens for their committee votes against the bill.

“If August dies, these men and women have the blood of a 7-month-old baby boy on their hands,” Tennessee Stands said in a statement.

At this point, the only other option is to pray the governor might intervene — and stay this seven-month-old baby’s government-sanctioned execution.

In the meantime, we have a responsibility to light up the phones at Vanderbilt and the governor’s office.
