Chief Justice John Roberts Signs Off on Nevada Church Crackdown

Chief Justice John Roberts and the liberals on the Supreme Court don’t believe churches should be afforded the same rights as Christians in the state of Nevada.

The Supreme Court rejected an emergency application from Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley asking the high court to halt an order that limits the number of people who can attend church.

The decision was strongly condemned by conservatives on the high court – and one that I warned you about in my new book, “Culture Jihad.” Click here to read my book.

“There is no world in which the Constitution permits Nevada to favor Caesars Palace over Calvary Chapel,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has allowed casinos and bars to operate at 50 percent but churches must limit their attendance to no more than 50 people.

In May the chief justice sided with the court’s liberals and affirmed a similar attendance ban targeting churches in California.

Roberts and the liberal justices did not explain why they rejected the church’s emergency application.

“The Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion,” Justice Sam Alito wrote in his dissent to the Nevada decision. “It says nothing about the freedom to play craps or blackjack, to feed tokens into a slot machine, or to engage in any other game of chance.”

Alito said a public health emergency “does not give governors and other public officials carte blanche to disregard the Constitution for as long as the medical problem persists.”

“The idea that allowing Calvary Chapel to admit 90 worshippers presents a greater public health risk than allowing casinos to operate ato 50 percent capacity is hard to swallow, and the state’s efforts to justify the discrimination are feeble,” Alito wrote.

Let me offer my dissent to the leftist justices on the Supreme Court.

Christians and Jews in Nevada have a Constitutional responsibility to reject the Supreme Court’s decision and defy the state’s Democrat governor.

We are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, not the Supreme Court. People of faith answer to a higher power.
