Cross Banned! School Reprints Yearbooks Without Christian Symbol on Cover

Fifth graders at Manchester Elementary School in Nebraska voted to put a collection of words shaped like a cross on the front cover of their yearbook. The cross-shaped design included words like love, inspire, believe, hope, live and trust.

A few weeks after the yearbooks were printed (and before they were distributed to students) someone raised issues about the religious imagery.

After a meeting between the principal and the parent teacher organization, a decision was made to reprint the yearbooks without the cross.

“PTO President Andrea Abrahamson told Omaha.com that the board “voted unanimously to reprint the cover as it was not sensitive to our all-student agenda.”

This is the same grade school that implemented an all-out ban on Christmas last year. I write about that incident in my upcoming book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation.”

“I never imagined that Elkhorn PTO members would cave to political correctness – shame on each of them for having such a lack of consideration for the children who chose the cross for THEIR yearbook cover,” one angry citizen wrote on Facebook. “This is pathetic leadership and they should all resign their positions immediately.”

I’m puzzled by the PTO’s explanation about being insensitive. It seems to me that they should want boys and girls to love and laugh and believe and hope and dream – and yes – even have faith.

The idea that these virtues are somehow tainted because they were written in the shape of a cross is disgusting.

And the entire sordid affair is made even worse because a bunch of godless grownups overrode the vote of the students. Sorry, kids – but you have to leave your faith at the schoolhouse door.

Something sinister is going on in that school district. It was bad enough when they banned the Baby Jesus, but now they want to completely eradicate anything remotely related to the Christian faith.

That is culture jihad at its worst, America.
