You could see mommy doing a lot more than kissing Santa Claus if you watch Lifetime’s Christmas movies this year.
The network announcing they plan to introduce steamy sex scenes to one of their upcoming holiday movies.
“A Cowboy Christmas Romance” is being hailed as groundbreaking by the folks in Hollywood.
“We think that there’s an audience out there that’s hungry for grown-up romance, and we’re looking forward to adding some smolder to the usual holiday sugar and spice,” Tia Maggini, senior vice president of scripted content at Lifetime, told Variety.
One of the show’s writers boasted about how there’s really nothing Christmas about Lifetime’s Christmas movie.
“We love trying new things, and we’re excited about this new ‘first’ for us for a holiday movie,” Maggini added.
Sarah Drew told a podcast host that the actors barely mention the word Christmas. There’s no gingerbread bake-off and no town that’s in dire need of salvation.
“I put it all in there, so I was like, ‘Don’t take the steam and the sex away from me. I wrote it on purpose, I want it in there,’” she added. “We barely mention the word ‘Christmas.’ There’s no gingerbread bake-off, there’s no festival, that town that’s going to hell and you gotta save it.”
It’s a big deviation from previous Christmas movie plots that normally involve big city girls who move back home to safe a bookstore or coffee shop, but end up finding romance with a local male model slash construction worker slash electrician.
As racy as it is, Lifetime’s yuletide film could’ve been a lot worse. The “Cowboy Christmas Romance” could’ve been on Brokeback Mountain.
Don’t let your kids watch Lifetime. It’s naughty, not nice.
