Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley declined an opportunity to address the National Religious Broadcasters convention – a gathering of more than 4,500 Christians involved in radio, television, film and digital broadcasting.
“We invited President Trump and Nikki Haley,” NRB president and chief executive officer Troy Miller said on The Todd Starnes Show on Newsmax. “Nikki Haley declined.”
And so did President Biden.
“Our first invitation went out to President Biden,” Miller told Starnes. “We invited him to come and we didn’t hear anything back from the White House.”
President Trump, however, enthusiastically announced that he would be in attendance and would address attendees.
“We’re excited that President Trump accepted and our crowd will enthusiastically welcome him,” the NRB head said.
Haley and Biden made a strategic misstep in snubbing the NRB – one of the most powerful and influential groups in the media world.
And Miller said it was especially important to hear from the candidates “in light of all that is going on with Christians and the cancel culture and the weaponization of government against Christians.”
He referenced the FBI’s targeting of Catholics and the infiltration of several parishes as well as the raids on the homes of pro-life families.
“They are clearly targeting Christians,” Miller said of the government.
