WATCH: Thousands of Christians Gathering in Southern California

Thousands of people are expected at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium this weekend, but it’s not for a baseball game. Pastor Greg Laurie is holding a big crusade called the SoCal Harvest.

“This is the 30th anniversary and someone told me this is the longest running large-scale evangelistic event in American history,” Laurie said on The Todd Starnes Show.

Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California and the author of  “Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon.”

“Each night I will present the gospel in a very understandable way and tell people how they can come into a relationship with Jesus Christ,” said Laurie, who is also a bestselling author. “Over the last 30 years, we have seen, and I’m not exaggerating this number, 500 thousand people come down on the field to make a public profession of faith in Christ.”

“What if someone out there is struggling with something but can’t make the crusade?” asked Starnes. “How can they come to know Christ?”

“You don’t have to go to an event, and you don’t have to go to a book or read a book,” replied Laurie.

Evoking Romans 10:13, Laurie pointed out that the Bible says whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

“It’s as simple as saying, ‘Jesus, I don’t understand all that much about you, but I know that I need you and I ask you to forgive me of my sin, I believe you died on the cross for me and rose again from the dead, If you’re real Lord make yourself real to me come into my life,’” Laurie continued. “If you’ll pray a prayer like that, God will more than meet you halfway.”

KING & COUNTRY, Newsboys, and Chris Tomlin are scheduled to appear at SoCal Harvest alongside other music acts. A military appreciation ceremony will be held on opening night.

SoCal Harvest is a free, three-night event from August 23rd-25th.
