More than two dozen students sang “Jesus Loves Me” for their beloved elementary school teacher in Wisconsin as she headed into hospice care Thursday, WISN reports.
Carol Mack, a 1st and 2nd-grade teacher of 45 years at Christ Lutheran School in Big Bend, has been battling cancer while teaching this school year.
“But now, the cancer has advanced, and instead of returning to her classroom, Carol needs hospice care,” Aurora Health Care shared in a Facebook post.
On her way into the hospice care, Mack was greeted by 26 students, current and former, along with parents and friends and they sang worship songs to her.
“It was overwhelming and very special. I hope people see how much these kids and their teacher loved each other and how our school community came together,” Mack said.
Others shared their love for Mack on social media.
“Such an amazing woman,” one person wrote. “She shaped the lives of soo many. Her impact in this lifetime was vast. We will greatly miss you Mrs. Mack.”
National radio host Todd Starnes told listeners Friday this story is “what America is all about.” Watch the video at WISN.
