The Los Angeles Times editorial board is defending “male-appearing genitalia” in the section of a spa with women and girls.
The Wi Spa, a Korean landmark in the City of Angels, has been under fire from liberal activists after a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman was allowed in the women’s section.
“It’s okay for a man to go into the women’s section, show his penis around the other women, young little girls underage,” a woman at the spa told the staff.
Antifa activists attacked protesters demonstrating against allowing men into the women’s spa.
The LA Times defended the activists in a lengthy op-ed.
“There is no doubt that Wi Spa did the right thing in defending the right of a transgender customer to be nude in the women’s area, even though the sight of male-appearing genitalia discomfited at least one female customer, who complained at the front desk,” the LA Times editorial board wrote. “As a public-serving business, Wi Spa had to follow California law forbidding discrimination against transgender people.”
The Times added that not everyone who feels “uncomfortable” with the situation is a bigot, noting that many sexual assault survivors “might find such a situation intimidating.”
And, while the newspaper defended the traditions and beliefs of Muslims and Jews, they did not comment on the tradition for Korean Americans.
