The State Dept. is urging U.S. citizens who are still in Lebanon to leave the country now.

“U.S. citizens who wish to depart Lebanon should leave now, due to the unpredictable security situation,” the State Dept. said in a statement. “There are still commercial flights available, but there is reduced capacity.”

Last week, the State Department on advised all US citizens worldwide “to exercise increased caution” due to “increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, (and) demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests.”

Earlier today the government ordered Americans not to travel to Iraq.

“Do not travel to Iraq due to terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, civil unrest, and Mission Iraq’s limited capacity to provide support to U.S. citizens,” the Level 4 warning statement.

On October 20, the Department ordered the departure of eligible family members and non-emergency U.S. government personnel from U.S. Embassy Baghdad and U.S. Consulate General Erbil due to increased security threats against U.S. government personnel and interests.
