White people are no longer allowed to apply for internships with the public library in Albany, New York.
The taxpayer-funded library recently announced internship applications — but only for black students.
Hispanics, Asian Americans and white need not apply.
“Can you imagine somebody posting for a fellowship at a public library and saying it’s only open to whites? Nobody would do that,” Bill Jacobson, president of the Equal Protection Project (EPP), told Fox News Digital. “So why do they think it’s okay to open up such a public fellowship only to blacks? It’s discrimination.”
The Touhey Library Equity Fellowship defended its discriminatory policies. They say the library profession is not racially diverse as it could be. And the internships are meant to recruit and attract black librarians.
“The library profession isn’t as racially diverse as it could be, so the Touhey Library Equity Fellowship was established as a way to hopefully attract black librarians to Albany Public Library,” Andrea Nicolay, executive director of Albany Public Libraries said, according to the library’s website.
“With the generous support of the Carl E. Touhey Foundation, we are able to work towards our diversity goal with much greater intention. Having professional staff who reflect the community we serve is important and has the potential to inspire our young patrons to explore a career in libraries,” Nicolay added.
The Legal Insurrection Foundation sent the library a cease-and-desist letter.
They say the Albany Public Library is violating state and federal civil rights laws. Not to mention a constitutional prohibition on race-based discrimination.
So much for judging people based on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin.
This is what critical race theory looks like in the real world – where non-blacks are treated as second class citizens because of their pigmentation.
For you folks who use the Dewey Decimal System, file that under “flat-out racism.”
